Home Life...Displaying Love for One Another

I am so thankful to DearHubby for doing my chores for me yesterday.

We had a small Christmas dinner party at our home on Thursday evening that I had spent the beginning of the week preparing for. It was a busy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and even Thursday as the house was still in quite a disarray from the previous week and our Christmas decorations were not yet up. I also had lunch with DearHubby, a Bible Study, and working out at the gym to fit in. All in addition to my already busy day with caring for the girls and the home.

Needless to say, I wore myself out. I did not get sick, but I just crashed on Friday. I wouldn't have crashed if I just went to sleep, but for some reason, I couldn't sleep well on Thursday evening. DearDaughter1 woke up at 1am to go to the potty and from that time on, I laid in bed tossing and turning. I was so tired on Friday that every time I sat down, I nodded off. Imagine how frustrated my girls were when they turned to see Mommy asleep.

So, the dishes from our Thursday Christmas dinner sat on our counter on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I guess DearHubby could foresee the time that I would need to bake cookies and finish up our Christmas cards and so he did all the dishes for me, vacuumed for me, and went grocery shopping with me. Initially, I got angry at him because I felt guilty for not doing all these chores myself and for letting them sit for days. DearHubby then told me that he did those things not to make me feel guilty but because he loves me. I was very touched, but I still had a hard time saying "Thank You."

While DearHubby vacuumed for me, DearDaughter1 called out to me because she couldn't fall asleep with all the noise.

DearDaughter1: Mommy, I can't sleep. There's too much noise out there.

Mommy: Daddy's done vacuuming. We won't make any more noise.

DearDaughter1: Why did Daddy vacuum?

Mommy: Because Daddy loves Mommy very much and he wanted to do something nice for Mommy.

DearDaughter1: Oh, OK!

With that explanation, DearDaughter1 laid her head down and fell asleep. I guess just hearing how much Daddy and Mommy loves each other comforted her that much.

So, I am grateful for my husband and the love he displayed for me, even in helping me do my chores. After my conversation with DearDaughter1, I realized that DearHubby did do all these things because he loves me and I properly expressed my appreciation to him. In response, he said, "I hope I helped you in ways that you needed," and in all honesty, I responded with a big "YES! VERY MUCH SO!"
