Verse of the Day:
“ I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:1-2)

Today's sermon was on Christ's name, the Lion of Judah. The following quote summarized the sermon perfectly:

"He is the predator of all evil, but He was also the prey in our stead. He is our provider."

After church we attended a special church luncheon. It was an enjoyable time of fellowship. Unfortunately, because our church is so big, we don't have these luncheons very often. Yet, what a great opportunity these luncheons would be to meet others we don't normally sit by and fellowship.

Well, tonight is the Superbowl game, the Chicago Bears against the Indianapolis Colts. The church is hosting a Superbowl "party" where there would be live commentary by a former NFL player and all the commercials will be replaced by other activities. During half-time the church also plans to show a DVD sharing the gospel message. What a wonderful evangelical opportunity, however, I am still unsure about what to think about the whole thing. The whole Sunday worship schedule was moved around just to fit this event in. Is this a biblical means of evangelism or has the church compromised to the world? I'm not sure...

On one last side note, while at the luncheon, DearHubby and I sat with an EPA employee. While in line for dessert, he offered me a future job with the EPA as an Engineer if I ever consider to return to work. I felt privileged to know that opportunities are still open for me. After lunch I suggested to DearHubby to finish his Engineering degree just to make him more marketable. I don't think DearHubby will consider it, but I wanted to throw out the idea for him to consider. It's disappointing because I think that DearHubby has the same ability as any Engineer to accomplish a job, but just because he doesn't have a B.E. after his name, he is "nothing" to companies. Yes, God is our rock and I praise Him that it is He that provides for all our needs and we can trust in Him even if DearHubby doesn't have that B.E. God is our refuge!!!
