Pregnancy...The C-section Couldn't Be Avoided

Picture hosted by http://www.photobucket.com/

It's been over a week since I've posted anything...We've been really busy around here.

Our Little One arrived on March 31, 2009 @ 12:31am.

I started feeling consistent contractions on Monday, March 30th, @ 5pm. They were coming every 8-10 minutes and lasting between 60-90 seconds. We called the doctor and he said to go to the hospital immediately because he didn't want me to labor at home.

We arrived at the hospital @ 9:30pm and an ultrasound of Little One was taken. She was still in a transverse (side lying) position and her back was towards my cervix. At this point, I was already 4.75cm dilated, already in active labor. When we inquired about turning the baby, the OB said that it was too late to turn the baby as I was already in active labor and a baby cannot be turned while the uterus is contracting. This was a medical condition for a C-section delivery.

I was prepared for a C-section at 11:30pm, brought into the Operating Room at 12am, and our Little One was born at 12:31am.

I initially said to DearHubby that this was like preparing for a race and not being able to even start it, but later realized that God just wanted to remind us that He is in complete control. Therefore, rather than us not being able to finish the race, we consider this situation as God finishing the race for us :)

We are very blessed with a beautiful and healthy baby, even at only 37 weeks :) She was 8lbs 6oz and 19.5 inches long!!!

Her big sisters are already so in awe of their little sister and we had a fun birthday party for Little One at the hospital!

Our church family has been so wonderful in providing help for our family during this time and it was such a testimony of Christ's love while I was in the hospital. There was a nurse who visited me every day and she always asked who was watching our other 2 girls. Every day I told her that a different friend was watching the girls and this nurse was very impressed by the love and care that our friends showed towards us. The nurse said, "Wow, I have never seen such love and care by just friends before. Usually you only see that kind of love and care by family." So I explained to her that these friends are a part of our church family and I exclaimed how our church family IS our family. Then, she asked me if we had any help when DearHubby goes back to work and I told her that we didn't have to worry because we were confident that our church family will be there to offer help.

We have had an outpouring of help from people watching our girls both day and night, to driving me to the doctor, to an abundance of food!!! It is such a testimony of God's love and we are grateful for God's faithfulness!

Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love!!!

As far as my recovery, God has been very merciful! The pain has been very minimal and I am even able to get up and out of bed on her own; very different from my first C-section with DearDaughter1. In fact, I was feeling good on Sunday that the family was able to go to church, only days after being released from the hospital! Many were surprised to see us there! On Tuesday, April 7th, DearHubby went back to work and I survived the day, by God's loving grace! I am very tired, but have made it! My staples have also been removed and the incision is healing well!

The girls are adjusting well to the new baby and the new baby is fitting right in with the family. The girls wish they could actually see their little sister more, but she needs her sleep and so she's mostly eating or sleeping. Mommy is glad that our Little One is eating well because she was a little jaundice and needs to get those bowels moving to get that biliruben number down.

DearHubby's been a wonderful daddy and has held up the fort really well! When the girls didn't see their daddy on Tuesday morning, they cried out for him. Mommy missed him too :(
