Harvest Crusade 2008 - Philadelphia, PA

The Harvest Crusade was probably one of the most touching events I have ever been to in my life!

In the book of Acts, Paul was called to bring the gospel to the Gentiles "that [he] may bring salvation to the ends of the earth." (Acts 13:47) He went from city to city preaching about Jesus and persuading Jews and Gentiles that Jesus is the Christ. "Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses." (Acts 13:38-39) Despite the obstacles Paul faced from being stoned to imprisonment, Paul persevered to bring the gospel to as many he could reach. He was courageous and he spoke the truth. As a result, multitudes were saved!

As I listened to Greg Laurie, I wondered if he was like a modern day Paul. The Harvest Crusade was an evangelistic event where Greg Laurie went from city to city, here in America, starting in California and ending in New York, to preach the gospel to the unsaved so that they may find salvation in Jesus Christ. Though Greg hasn't been stoned or imprisoned, the obstacles he faces today are modern day thoughts that lead men away from God and towards the self and man as god.

I will never forget this quote Greg said, "Heaven is NOT your default destination!"

He was very frank about eternity and "for me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21) Heaven is not our default destination and the only way to God is through Christ alone!

That is the message that was heard that night (and I'm sure all the other nights of the Crusade) and as a result, a multitude, over 900 people responded to the call to receive Jesus as their Savior. It was an amazing sight to see the Holy Spirit work in a big way!!!

The one prayer I now have for each and every person who responded to the call is that God would provide each one a local church so that their relationship with Christ would grow.
