White as Snow

We had a snow storm this weekend while I was in Lancaster, PA for a Woman's Retreat and when I awoke on Saturday morning I was in awe by the wondrous sight of the snow covered ground. Everything looked so clean and refreshed!

Well, I remember one of the very first times I saw snow. It was my first year at the Coast Guard Academy and it probably snowed about 6" one day. I don't remember if we had class that day or not, but I do remember getting into my orange and blue wind breaker sweats and sweater and going down onto the middle of the football field. I was really taken by the beauty of the WHITE snow and I finally realized the purity of fresh fallen snow.

All I could think of was the song "White as Snow":

White as snow, white as snow
Though my sins were as scarlet
Lord I know, Lord I know
That I'm clean and forgiven
Through the power of your blood
Through the wonder of your love
Through faith in you I know
That I can be
WHITE AS SNOW!!!

I got down on my knees right in the middle of the football field and cried because I finally realized just how clean my savior had made me. Just seeing how the snow had blanketed over everything and made the earth look so pure overwhelmed my soul and as I cried, I prayed to the Lord with great thanksgiving for covering up my sins and making me pure in His sight through the scarlet blood he had shed for me.

Everytime it snows, I always think back to that first snow experience and I am reminded again how we are washed white as snow.

Wow, what a beautiful post! I don't remember my first snow - I was too little, but I do remember seeing snow for the first time in many many years. It was 2 years ago while we were driving to Arizona. We were in northern Texas on the other side of Amarillo and it was snowing hard. I was worried my hubby couldn't drive in it, so we ended up stopping for the night in Tucumcari, NM. It was so cold, but the kids were in heaven with the snow!
