It's a Bake Day...

So... today turned out to be a really beautifu day!!! At least in our area, the humidity was low and the temperature was in the low 80's. I didn't have much on my to do list since I had completed all my chores for the week...So, I decided that today would be a BAKE day!!! I run a Christian women's forum, A Forum for Christian Women, and I think in April I started a Weekly Dessert Recipe of the Week. For about 7 or 8 weeks straight, I made a new dessert recipe and my DearHubby got spoiled. Then...in mid-June, probably the week I was 36 weeks along in my pregnancy, I decided that I would stop my weekly baking efforts as it was getting too difficult to handle. No more homemade desserts for DearHubby and it would be a weekly 1/2 gallon of cheap chocolate ice cream until the baby is born...

Well, last night, we ran out of ice cream and DearHubby and I usually like to relax after dinner with some sort of dessert. Along with my new weekly recipe, I was also baking a batch of homemade Brownies for DearHubby. Therefore, I decided that I would bake Brownies today. In addition, last week, when a ChurchFriend delivered a meal for us, she also included a huge zucchini in the package which she grew in her garden. So, I decided to bake Zucchini Bread today too.

The neat thing about today is that I was able to incorporate time with DearDaughter into my baking projects. She was happy to just pour all the ingredients into the bowl as I measured them out. In addition, I got to help her learn how to count as we put the ingredients in by the scoopfuls...She's only 19 months old and so she doesn't really grasp the concept of counting yet, but she can say "wan...tooay...tee...fo...fy...si...se'en...ey...ni...ten"...

I was also excited about having the opportunity to bake today because mom only baked from boxed mixes and so I'm ready to impress my parents with these home baked goodies when they arrive from California on Sunday. The Zucchini Bread recipe that I found makes 2 loaves and so I've already put the second loaf in the freezer and that will be my Thank You gift to my parents when they leave...I know they'll treasure that because the last time they visited us a few years back, I baked a boxed mix of Blueberry Muffins for their Thank You gift and they really savored that. So, I am excited to give them something made from my own hands (and their grand-daughter's too)!

Well, DearHubby finished mowing and trimming the lawn this evening just to have a welcoming touch when my parents arrive...We are hoping that our Little One will show up tomorrow so that we are all able to greet my parents when they arrive on Sunday!

I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw the harvest of my garden on your blog and that you and your daughter made bread with it! :) I have another 4 or 5 zucchini's right now that I still want to make zucchini chocolate chip bread with. Your recipe looks yummy too. What a perfect day to bake and it WAS a beautiful weather day. Thanks for sharing your day with me. I also spoil my dh with goodies every week and when I don't make something it's like he has homemade-treats-withdrawal. :)
