Ice Cream
This weekend's weather was so nice that DearDaughter and I went out for ice cream after lunch on Sunday. This field trip once again reminded me of another Coast Guard Academy story.
It was my 4/c year (Freshman year) and as a 4/c or actually, as any classman, we were not allowed off of the academy grounds during the week. The only exception to this rule was if you went off grounds for a jog.
It was a beautiful sunny day, worthy of an ice cream cone. 2 friends and I decided that it would be fun to get an ice cream cone and the nearest ice cream "shop" was Friendly's about a mile or 2 from the academy. So, we took a jog to Friendly's, got us each an ice cream cone, and then jogged back. We didn't feel guilty for going off grounds as we did jog to and from Friendly's. We didn't feel guilty for eating the ice cream cone either, as we must have worked out the calories through the jog anyway
