My Alma Mater

My alma mater is Geneva College. I graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a focus in Mechanical Engineering and I minored in music.

I was a transfer student to Geneva College as I attended the US Coast Guard Academy my 4th Class (Freshman) and 3rd Class (Sophomore) years. Therefore, I transferred in as a Junior to Geneva, thus, the beginning of my deeper focus in my major. As a result, it was very difficult for me to make friends at Geneva. Those who had started at Geneva since their Freshman year already had their own clique of friends and being the only female engineer in my class made it quite difficult to really find someone to relate with.

However, my fondest memory at Geneva College were the friends I made. The bond that drew me close to those friends is an everlasting one; our love for the Lord Jesus Christ. I remember the late night walks just contemplating about God. I remember catching rides with friends to church and just having an awesome time of fellowship to and from church. I remember the after church lunches in the cafeteria where we would pull tables together just so everyone would fit at the table. I remember the after church lunches at an elder's home and the Bible study and naps that took place afterwards. I remember the mid-week Bible study that just helped bring our priorities back to the Lord, especially when times just seemed so busy.

Those were good times and up to this day, I have still not found friends like the ones I had at Geneva. People are just so busy with their own lives and families that there isn't that same one on one opportunity to really be transparent with one another or the opprotunity to really get involved in one another's life as we could back in college and understandably so. Yet, DearHubby and I often talk about our heart's desire to someday build these similar type of relationships with others and it's truly been a challenge, but we have our trust and our hope in the Lord to guide us into how He wants us to "One Another" others.
