March 9, 2007

Verse of the Day:
“who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,” (2 Timothy 1:9)

I initially had a luncheon to go to today, but it was cancelled. As a result, I actually had a whole day to spend at home!!! Blessedly the Lord protected my heart from any sort of self-pitying that I did yesterday and allowed me to be very productive!!!

In the beginning of the week I listed filing our Income Tax returns as one of my "1st quarter goals". I completed my daily chores early today and spent the rest of the day working on manually going through our State Income Tax return and then actually filling out the returns (Federal and State) online on www.taxact.com. We're getting a really good amount back from the Federal government and a little from the State. We will be using about 95% of that money to work on Little One #2's room, which will require complete demolition and rebuilding from the foundation to the roof. Anyway, as DearHubby had some time tonight, I let him look over my "work" for his "approval". Everything looked good to DearHubby and if I have time tomorrow, I will do one last review and then submit everything.

I was then able to get our weekly paperwork sorted. A few weeks ago I started a routine where I would put the week's worth of mail into a ziplock, which would be like my INBOX and that bag needed to be cleaned out before the next week's mail is put into it. Well, with trying to catch up from being away, I missed cleaning out the bag last week. Unfortunately, there was a credit card bill that I had overlooked and the due date was March 5th and today is March 9th. The original balance was about $16 and when I called to find out what my "new" balance was it turned out to be $41. That really upset me and I waited for the customer rep to complain about my new balance. Apparently, the late fee is $25. I spent about 10 minutes on the phone with the rep and it wasn't until I asked the rep if there was any way to waive the late fee that he finally told me that I can have 1 late fee waived for each 12 month period. That upset me even more that I had to push the rep for him to tell me that. Well, I wrote the check right away and ran off to the Post Office before it closed to get my payment postmarked today.

Lesson learned about being sly as a serpant: Don't always assume that people are good and honest and will disclose everything to you. If there is something you think is not right, be assertive about it because you just never know what people are hiding and what can actually be done for you.

Lesson learned about diligence: Don't procrastinate. You may get fined a late fee.

Well, I did finish my weekly paperwork and my bag is ready for next week's mail.

I was also able to work with DearHubby on finalizing the "To Keep" and "To Dispose" pile from the first box I worked on this week and put away Bin #1 and dispose of the box and trash.

I am excited for tomorrow as it will be DearDaughter day!!! We are having breakfast with some friends at Old Country Buffet to see Elmo and then at noon DearDaughter and I will be visiting a Gymboree type place for a free open house!!!

Have a blessed weekend!!!
